How We Got Here–And Where We’re Going

Few people know we’re a family business. In their defense, we haven’t talked about it much.

When we began MomentMD in 2017, the goal was simple: to help patients understand their health data and take practical steps to improve their health. 

Growing up, we saw firsthand how hard it was for our family members and community to access personal healthcare. Knowing that access could prevent chronic illness, we set out to build a different system–one where patients could start their health journey as early as possible, and future providers could receive training while still in school, empowering them to provide better, more individualized care from the start of their careers.

The question was how. We knew we wanted to make it easier to receive care based on their unique histories, rather than generic guidelines. We also knew we needed to equip providers with the latest technology and train them to interpret patient data efficiently, while considering important factors like culture, diet, religion, genetics, lifestyle, and even microbiome. Traditional healthcare often overlooks these factors, contributing to what can feel like an impersonal experience for patients and families.  

When MomentMD officially launched in October 2019, we focused on student health clinics and direct-to-consumer services–then COVID-19 happened. With colleges and universities closed for in-person services across the country, we pivoted towards helping graduate students develop their clinical skills virtually. Digital health was gaining traction long before the pandemic began, and we wanted to be the first step in a new provider’s journey to telehealth. 

Given our own medical and pharmaceutical backgrounds, we combined our strengths. I focused on the product and strategy, while Mario brought his knowledge of finance, business development skills, and network to the table. This segmentation has allowed us to build sustainably and efficiently in the years since. 

Today, our dual focus on patients and healthcare providers creates a seamless, tech-driven approach to personalized care. Our platform empowers patients to truly understand their health data and receive tailored, actionable steps to improve their well-being. 

For providers, MomentMD is committed to training the next generation of healthcare professionals, equipping them with the latest digital health tools and techniques. By offering opportunities to develop clinical skills through digital platforms, MomentMD prepares students to thrive in the evolving healthcare landscape. This focus on both education and care, combined with a cutting-edge, accessible platform, positions MomentMD as a leader in the shift toward more personalized and tech-enabled healthcare solutions.

As we approach our fifth birthday, we’re proud to have over 80,000 hours of clinical education provided under our belt, a growing preceptor network that’s 2500 providers strong, with 40+ live universities–and more to come.
